Improving maritime safety is at the heart of all research undertaken by MaRiSa.

Formed in 2009, the MaRiSa group endeavours to strengthen research initiative in Maritime Risk and System Safety with a view to continually and proactively identify maritime risks with the ultimate aim of contributing to system safety in the maritime domain.

The group has an interdisciplinary profile and a strong and solid foundation in the maritime field. The group is headed by two researchers with master mariner qualifications and seafaring experience. The group has research expertise related to Human Factors, Maritime Education and Training, social sciences, simulation and IT specialism.
